John Bowker

Biography

John has been the resident Infrastructure Adviser for the Department for International Development (DFID) on Montserrat since January 2015. Prior to that he was based in Glasgow working for the DFID Overseas Territories Department on the St Helena and Tristan da Cunha programme, and before that he was based in Afghanistan. Prior to joining DFID John served for 27 years as a Royal Engineer Soldier and Officer and carried out active duty in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Northern Ireland, Belize, Kenya, Ghana, Falkland Islands, Cyprus, Germany and Denmark.

In addition to specialising on Infrastructure development, his work has included; civil engineering, water development, well drilling, commercial diving & underwater construction, quarry management, explosive supervision and plant engineering. John specialised in project management as part of his Master’s Degree MBA dissertation. John is married with one son. His interests include; running, weight training, DIY, walking, rock climbing and skiing.
