Professor John Beath OBE

Biography

Professor John Beath studied at the Universities of St. Andrews (Queen’s College Dundee), London and Pennsylvania (where he was a UK Thouron Scholar) and held academic posts at Bristol, Cambridge and St. Andrews.

He became Professor Emeritus at St. Andrews in 2009 and is currently Secretary-General of the Royal Economic Society. He is a member of the Council of the ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) and chairs its Training and Skills Committee. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). He served for two terms as a member of the Doctors’ and Dentists’ Pay Review Body (2003 - 2009).
