After initially qualifying as a chartered accountant and working with Price Waterhouse Coopers for three years, Jayne moved into the public sector working for the Lothian Health Board as Contracts and Finance Manager. She rose through the finance ranks in a range of organisations across Scotland, becoming Director of Finance and Performance Management with Fife Health Board in 1994. After five years in that role, Jayne moved into consultancy and started her own company, the Scott Ross Partnership.
For the last 11 years Jayne has worked on a range of consultancy assignments, primarily within the health sector; working to reduce budget deficits and turn poor financial performance around within that sector, across Scotland.
Over the last few years, her motivation has been to move away from consultancy and take on more of a non-executive director portfolio. This has resulted in her becoming Deputy Chairman with Entrust and then Scottish Non Executive Member of Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence and non-executive director of Ofgem.
