Jane Cunliffe
Biography
Jane Cunliffe is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Department for Education.
Her previous roles include:
- Chief Financial Officer at Oxfam
- Director of Strategic Finance at Department for Work and Pensions
- Director of Public Spending at HM Treasury
Jane started her career in the civil service in the Department for Education and Skills, in 2002.
Chief Operating Officer
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a member of the Department for Education’s Board, Leadership Team and Audit and Risk Committee.
The COO is responsible for a number of functions that support both DfE and the wider education and skills sector such as:
- effective management of the department’s resources
- delivery and improvement of the main corporate functions including, capital programmes, digital, data and technology, HR, finance, commercial, and estates
- governance and the relationship with DfE’s non-departmental public bodies
