James Cross

Biography

James Cross is the Chief Executive of Natural England, the government’s expert advisor on the natural environment for England; and a member of Defra’s Executive Committee.

James was previously the Chief Executive of the Marine Management Organisation, the marine regulator and manager for English seas, and a former HM Assistant Chief Inspector of Court Administration for England and Wales with the Ministry of Justice.

James is a Chartered Director, a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a member of the Association of Chief Executives.

James was appointed to the Natural England Board as an ex officio Board member on 1 January 2016, and chairs the Board Natural Flood Management subgroup.
