Ian Gambles
Biography
Ian has been Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission since 1 April 2019. He became Forestry Commission Director for England and an executive Forestry Commissioner in March 2013. Ian was previously Director of National Infrastructure at the Planning Inspectorate, has experience from both the public and private sectors, including HM Treasury and as a management consultant.
Ian’s 12 years in consultancy were focused principally on developing and implementing strategy within the public sector. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
