Ian Fox

Biography

Ian arrived in Minsk in August 2016 to take up his appointment as Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy. Recently, his career has focused on Central and Eastern Europe having worked in Slovakia and Poland.

Ian began his career in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1987 in the Security Policy team and Lord Howe’s Private Office. In addition to Warsaw and Bratislava, he has been posted to Beijing, Dubai and Casablanca. He has also served in London as the Project Manager in the Strategic Coordination Section of the Overseas Territories Directorate, as Postings Officer in the Human Resource Directorate and as a World Trade Executive on secondment to the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Ian has an MBA from the Open University. He is married to Alison, a Head of a Secondary School and has one son and one daughter. He supports Middlesbrough Football Club and is a former captain of the Diplomatic Service Cricket Club.
