Ian Abbott
Biography
Ian Abbott joined the CNPA Board in July 2012. He is familiar with police governance, having been the Chairman of the Oxfordshire Police Committee and independent member of the Thames Valley Police Authority.
Previous security experience includes service in the army as a brigadier and director level posts in the UK Cabinet Office, where he chaired Cabinet Office Briefing Room (COBR) post 911, and later in the EU council managing the European state response to threats and contingency planning. His safety and experience includes being responsible for a non departmental public body operating top tier hazardous sites, involving nuclear licenses and HSE duties across all the Ministry of Defence explosive stores.
He received the MBE for his contribution to the intelligence community. He received the OBE for his leadership on operations.
