Iain Anderson

Biography

Iain Anderson is a chair, investor and portfolio non-executive director.

He is chair of insurtech start-up Agentiv-X. He is a non-executive director of Innovate Finance, independent non-executive director of the British Insurance Brokers Association and non-executive director of the Court of the University of St Andrews.

He is chair of the John Smith Centre, which focuses on supporting young people into public life.

He is also non-executive director of Chapter Zero, the body that equips and inspires non-executive directors to lead on climate from the boardroom.

Iain co-chairs the Great British Energy Aberdeen Taskforce.

Iain was founder and former Executive Chairman of H/Advisors Cicero. He has over 30 years’ experience as an entrepreneur, adviser, business journalist and board-level counsel for some of the world’s leading business and not-for-profit organisations.

In 2024 Iain led an independent review, A New Partnership, exploring a long-term plan for how industry and government can better collaborate.

Iain served as the UK government’s first LGBT+ Business Champion. He serves on the City of London Corporation Competitiveness Advisory Board and was one of the Financial Times Global 100 LGBTQ Executives and Financial Times Allies of Women in Business.

They all:

  • give guidance and advice to DBT leaders and ministers
  • support and challenge management on the department’s strategic direction
  • provide support in monitoring and reviewing progress
