Sir Hugh Stevenson

Biography

Sir Hugh Stevenson was appointed as a Member of ACOBA in April 2010 and was interim Chair from 1 April 2014 until 31 December 2014. He began his business career at Linklaters and Paines, solicitors, joining the investment bank, SG Warburg and Co in 1970. His previous roles include:

  • non-executive director of the Financial Services Authority from 2004 to 2010, serving as deputy chairman during his final year
  • Chairman, The Merchants Trust plc, 2000 to 2010
  • Chairman, Equitas Ltd, 1998 to 2009
  • non-executive director of Standard Life plc, 1999 to 2008
  • Chairman, Institutional Fund Managers Association, 1998 to 1999
  • Chairman, Mercury Asset Management Group plc, 1992 to 1998

He is a trustee of a number of charitable trusts.
