Howard Shiplee CBE
Biography
Howard joined the Department for Work and Pensions in May 2013 as Director General of the Universal Credit Programme.
His previous career has included:
- senior executive at Laing O’Rourke
- Director of Construction at the Olympic Delivery Authority where he was responsible for the development of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Park
- responsibility for the redevelopment of the Ascot Racecourse
- Programme Director of Network Rail’s Thames link upgrade
- Project Director on the main terminal for Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok Airport and the GCHQ building at Cheltenham
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and the Institution of Civil Engineers. He received a CBE for services to construction in the Queen’s 2012 New Years Honours List.
