Biography

Helen became Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Croatia in July 2020. She joined the Foreign Office in 2009. Since then her roles have included Desk Officer Zimbabwe, Speechwriter to the Foreign Secretary, Head of the FCO/DfID Egypt Team and Private Secretary to the Minister of State.

Between 2012 and 2015 she was posted to the United Nations HQ in New York where she led UK work on human rights, negotiating on behalf of the UK in the General Assembly and Security Council.

Deputy Head of Mission to Croatia

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
