Gill Lever OBE

Biography

Gill is a career diplomat. Previous postings have included Romania, India and Japan.

She has also worked in the voluntary sector, establishing child drowning prevention programmes (she is a qualified swimming teacher and open water swimmer) and raising funds for women’s and children’s projects in Vietnam. In the UK, she has worked in a diverse range of roles including as Head of the Peacekeeping Team in the UN Department, Deputy Head of South East Asia Department and as a Human Resources Business Partner.

Her last role prior to coming to South Sudan was as Head of Overseas Health and Welfare for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in London.

She was awarded an OBE in 2021 for her work on the FCDO’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
