Giles Whitaker
Biography
Giles Whitaker was Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Tehran from November 2018 to December 2021.
After studying for a degree in History & Politics, Giles joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in 1988. He has served in British missions abroad in Brussels (at NATO HQ), Berlin, Moscow, and Islamabad. On home postings at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London he has had a wide range of jobs, including on arms control, Transatlantic relations, the Middle East, South Asia and corporate affairs. He has also spent five years working in the private sector as a management consultant.
