Geraint Spearing became the Chief Executive of the Defence Electronics Components Agency in June 2014.
Geraint headed up various operational business units, along with the Corporate Support Services across the Defence Support Group, and latterly joined the Executive Board as Chief Operating Officer to June 2014 which included all UK operations and support areas, including the management of deployed operations in Afghanistan.
He took up the position as CE(des) in June 2014 where he led the separation from DSG and formation and launch of the Defence Electronics and Components Agency (DECA) on 1 April 2015.
An experienced Chartered Director and Aerospace Engineer, Geraint is a Fellow of both the Royal Aeronautical Society and Institute of Directors. Geraint has a proven capability of running businesses and corporate support services through strong leadership and change management skills developed through repeated achievement of business objectives over his 25 year career in defence related businesses.
The Chief Executive:
- is accounting officer for DECA
- is personally responsible for the day to day operations and executive management of DECA
- ensures that DECA is run on the basis of the governance, decision making and financial management standards
- is directly responsible to Parliament for the stewardship of DECA’s resources
