Gemma Hewison
Biography
Gemma Hewison was appointed as the Interim Director General Policy for Courts, Access to Justice, International Justice and Legal in June 2025.
Before being appointed as the Interim Director General, Gemma was the Director for Civil, Tribunals and Administration of Justice Directorate.
MOJ Policy group sit at the heart of the department, with responsibility for developing our strategic policy agenda and advising on policy across the full range of the Department’s Ministerial agenda.
Gemma’s areas of responsibility are the following:
- Legal Aid, Legal Support and Dispute Resolution
- Civil, Tribunals and Administration of Justice
- Courts, Criminal and Family Justice
- Judicial & Legal Services Policy
- Victims, Vulnerabilities & Criminal Law
- International Rights & Constitutional Policy
- Legal Services
