Captain Gary Hesling

Biography

Gary is a serving Captain in the Royal Navy; he is a Warfare Officer and a specialist hydrographer by trade. Over his 32-year career, he has had numerous and varying appointments, which include commands of hydrographic ships.

In his current command post as Captain HM, he heads the Hydrographic and Meteorological Branch; this includes command oversight of all Royal Navy hydrographic ships and providing the environmental support needed by ships, aircraft and submarines for operations.

In his second role as Hydrographer of the Navy, amongst other duties, he sits as a Non-Executive Director on the Hydrographic Office Board representing the Defence customer.
