Gary Austin

Biography

Gary is an Independent Member of the Intellectual Property Office Steering Board.

He has recently completed three years in the private sector as chief executive of a2om International in Surrey; providing driver education software and road safety programmes. Gary is also currently a non-executive director of the East Midlands NHS Ambulance Trust.

Prior to this Gary has held several senior posts in a variety of public sector organisations including six years as chief executive for a civil service based trading fund, the Driving Standards Agency (Nottingham). He was also on the executive board of an NHS Special Health Authority, the National Blood Authority, (Bristol) where he helped devise and implement its first strategic plan.

His move into the public sector came in 1986 when he joined the SW Regional Health Authority (Bristol) as Deputy Regional Personnel Director following six years in personnel with British Telecommunications plc in the City of London.

Gary lives in Nottinghamshire and is married with two children.
