Fiona Blyth

Biography

Fiona Blyth MBE was appointed British Ambassador to Mongolia in 2023.  She has held roles in the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York and in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)’s European Counter Terrorism department in London.

Prior to joining FCDO, she served in the British Army in Afghanistan and Northern Ireland, and worked for the United Nations in Somalia.  She also worked in New York for the International Peace Institute, focusing on UN peacekeeping and peacebuilding in Africa.  Most recently, Fiona held a range of Cabinet Office positions including as a Principal Analyst (Middle East) and as Deputy Head of the Russia/Ukraine Team in the National Security Secretariat.

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
