Biography

Erik Wilson is the Chief Operating Officer and second Accounting Officer at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). As a member of the CMA Board, Erik is responsible for setting the strategic direction and policy framework, and monitoring performance against its objectives.

Previous career highlights include:

  • Executive Director for Corporate and Support Services (CMA)
  • Director of the Executive Office and Strategy Group at the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) leading central elements of the creation of the CMA as part of the reform of the competition and consumer landscape
  • Leading organisational improvement and working at Board level
  • Corporate leadership roles across the Civil Service

The Chief Operating Officer at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is responsible for a range of professional disciplines in the Corporate Services directorate and for:

  • working with the Chief Executive to deliver cross-organisational capability to ensure the CMA achieves its strategic objectives
  • developing the CMA’s business services
  • providing organisational leadership across a range of functions to ensure that the Corporate Services directorate provides a first class service in a demanding and high-profile environment
