Douglas Hamilton

Biography

Douglas Hamilton is currently the Director of the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust based in Edinburgh.

Douglas has many years experience of working to address child poverty in Scotland through his employment in the children’s voluntary sector. He has played a leading role in the campaign to End Child Poverty in Scotland, and is also a member of the Scottish Government’s Ministerial Advisory Group on Child Poverty.

Before joining the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust, Douglas was:

• Head of Save the Children in Scotland, 2008-2013

• Head of Policy and Research, Save the Children (Scotland), 2005-2008

• Policy Manager at the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, 2004-2005

• Policy and Research Officer at Barnardo’s Scotland, 2002-2004

• Senior Policy Officer at Children in Scotland, 2000-2002

• Assistant Director at the Scottish Human Rights Centre, 1997-2000
