Doug Umbers
Biography
Doug has spent the past 20 years in and around the world of defence and security, operating in senior roles at private-sector businesses providing engineering and technology services, including for MOD, and for the intelligence services and related agencies.
Doug has been on the executive boards of VT Group plc (now Babcock International plc) and the terrestrial TV, radio and wireless communications infrastructure provider, Arqiva.
Immediately prior to joining Dstl, Doug was the interim Chief Operating Officer of FCO Services, a trading fund owned by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
As Dstl’s Chief Operating Officer from December 2018, Doug was responsible for leading a set of diverse business enabling operations spanning commercial/procurement, facilities, IT, transformation programmes, health and safety and security. Doug also stepped in as Interim Chief Executive of Dstl from April 2021 to February 2022.
