Dr Derek Craston
Biography
Dr Derek Craston became the Government Chemist in June 2008. He is also the Chief Scientific Officer and Managing Director of Science and Innovation at LGC, a life sciences research and testing company.
Derek joined LGC in 1991 and has carried out a variety of research and development roles relating to new methods of analysis. He has a degree in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews and a PhD from Imperial College, London, for research into enzyme electrochemistry.
