David Wood

Biography

David became Director of Crime and Intelligence in February 2014.

David joined the Home Office in 2006 as Director of Policy for the Office for Criminal Justice Reform. David led on the policy for the criminal justice system of England and Wales. In 2008 he moved to the UK Border Agency as a Board member and Director for Enforcement and Crime.

His previous career highlights include:

  • being interim Director General for the Home Office Immigration Enforcement command from April 2013 to January 2014
  • spending 31 years with the Metropolitan Police Service
  • leading teams and departments of detectives fighting international organised crime
  • becoming Deputy Assistant Commissioner
  • acting as Deputy Chief Executive of the UK Border Agency in 2012
