David Silk
Biography
David Silk was the Interim Director General for Aviation, Maritime and Security at the Department for Transport (DfT) from 4 November 2025 to 15 March 2026.
David has been the Director of Aviation since January 2023, responsible for overseeing the full breadth of the UK’s aviation policy and strategy. Prior to this, David was Director for Airports, Infrastructure and Commercial Interventions.
Before joining DfT, David spent his career in HM Treasury, where he held a number of senior roles in welfare, housing, local growth and education spending and also served as Private Secretary to the Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
