David Probert
Biography
David Probert was appointed Interim Director General, Performance and Delivery in November 2025. He remains Deputy Chief Executive Officer of NHS England, a transitional post he has held since 6 May 2025.
David is also Chief Executive at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), a role he started in 2021.
Prior to this, David was Chief Executive of Moorfields Eye Hospital and before that held executive operational and research leadership roles at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
David continues to present on a range of academic and training courses and is a visiting professor to the UCLH Global Business School for Health. David is a past fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Boston, USA.
