David Morris MP

Biography

David Morris has been the Member of Parliament for Morecambe and Lunesdale since 2010.

He is UK Government Space Adviser having taken up the role in July 2022. He has previously served as a member of the Commons Science and Technology Committee and was the government’s ambassador for freelancers and the self-employed (2014-2016).

David Morris was Assistant Government Whip between 8 July 2022 and 20 September 2022. He currently chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Lancashire.

UK Government Space Adviser

The UK Government Space Adviser is responsible for:

  • playing a key part in supporting the UK’s innovative and growing space sector
  • supporting the sector to engage with government on aspects of policy on space
  • enhancing the understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the space sector

The role is supported by the Space Directorate in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, and can be reached at Space.Adviser@dsit.gov.uk.

Space has the potential to play a vital role in supporting the government’s ambitions to drive innovation to improve public services, create better paid jobs and grow the economy, and will be a key enabling sector in delivering the priorities for the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
