David Moran


David Moran arrived in Berne on 6 January 2014 to assume the role of Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Mr Moran joined the FCO in 1985 and has previously served as Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and (non-resident) the Kyrgyz Republic. In the mid-1990s in London he was responsible for managing bilateral relations with both Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

He has also been posted to Nairobi, Moscow, Paris and Tbilisi, in the latter case as Chargé d’Affaires. Prior to joining the Foreign Office, Mr Moran was a professional blues pianist. He is married to Carol Marquis.

The Ambassador represents Her Majesty The Queen and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
