David Brooker

Biography

David Brooker joined DCMS in March 2008 as the Director responsible for the legacy of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and since 2011 has also been the lead Director for Sport.

Having studied English at the University of Ulster, David started his civil service career in the Northern Ireland Office in 1975. Since then, his career highlights have included:

  • working in the Police Department of the Home Office from 1984 to 1987
  • attending the Royal College of Defence Studies
  • working on negotiations for the Good Friday Agreement
  • being Head of HR at the Northern Ireland Office
  • serving as Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland
  • working as Director of Communications at the Northern Ireland Office
