Craig Mills PhD

Biography
Craig Mills has been Minister Counsellor at the British Embassy Warsaw since June 2025.
Prior to this role, he was Deputy Director Geopolitics, leading the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s engagement through the G7 and G20, and establishing the FCDO’s Geopolitical Impact Unit. During his FCDO career, he has worked on Europe, European Union and multilateral issues. Craig has previously been posted to the UK’s Mission to the United Nations in New York, focusing on Africa and peacekeeping, and NATO’s International Staff, where he developed NATO’s first policy to combat sexual exploitation and abuse.
Before joining the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in 2012, Craig held several roles in the Department for Transport, leading on aviation security and low carbon fuels, and the Food Standards Agency.
Craig holds a DPhil in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Oxford.
Minister Counsellor, Poland
The Minister-Counsellor for Political Affairs is responsible for leading the Embassy’s work to promote a strong political relationship between the UK and Poland, with a particular focus on cooperation on foreign and security policy.
