Colin Macleod

Biography

Colin joined the UK Space Agency in November 2018, and was appointed as interim Director of Regulation in September 2019. He has held a number of roles across the civil service, including Cabinet Office, Department for Exiting the EU, Department for Business Enterprise and Skills, Department of Energy and Climate Change, and Department of Environment and Rural Affairs He has also undertaken roles on secondment to the Department of Environment in Northern Ireland and the Rural Payments Agency. Colin has experience in policy, operations and delivery, with extensive experience in working with regulators and industry. He is an accredited reviewer for the Infrastructure and Projects Authority.

Director of Regulation (Acting)

The Director of Regulation is responsible for the development and standing up of a new regulator for space in line with the requirements of the Space Industry Act 2018. They also lead on satellite licencing currently under the Outer Space Act, and its future transition to be part of a single space regulator. The director leads the Agency’s work with the Department for Transport on secondary legislation needed to implement the Space Industry Act.
