Claire Corkhill was appointed to the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) in January 2020.
Claire is currently a Reader and EPSRC Early Career Research Fellow at the University of Sheffield. With an academic background in both geology and materials science, she has over 10 years of experience in researching nuclear waste material corrosion in geological environments. She has held research fellowships in both the UK and Japan and leads a team of 12 researchers focused on determining the long-term behaviour of radioactive materials. Claire is an enthusiastic science communicator and has made numerous media appearances in relation to nuclear waste disposal and nuclear decommissioning.
