Chris Flatt was appointed Deputy Director (Corporate and Constitution) of the Scotland Office, in July 2010.
Before joining the Scotland Office, Chris worked for 8 years in the Northern Ireland Office, mainly on policy issues but also corporate service delivery. Policy issues Chris covered include the legacy of Northern Ireland’s past, public inquiries, human rights and national security matters.
Deputy Director, Constitution and Communications
The Deputy Director, Constitution and Communications, is responsible for:
- advising ministers on Scottish constitutional matters, including strengthening Scotland’s position within the UK and effectively managing the devolution settlement
- communicating and promoting a wider understanding of UK government policies in Scotland
- running the Scotland Office effectively and efficiently
