Caitlin was appointed Deputy Head of Mission on 11 November 2015.

She joined the FCO in 1990 and has worked in Cyprus, the UK’s delegation to NATO in Brussels, Guatemala and Cuba. Caitlin has done a wide variety of work in London, but has had a focus on the UK’s relationship with the European Union. Her most recent job in London was Head of the Commonwealth Department. She speaks Spanish, French and Hungarian.

Deputy Head of Mission, Hungary

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
