Bev Smith
Biography
Bev was appointed as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee for the Coal Authority in April 2023 and has been pursuing a non-executive director career since April 2022.
She works for the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales, setting the remuneration for principal, community and town councils, national parks and fire and rescue authorities contributing to a healthy thriving, diverse democracy.
Previously she held chief executive positions within local government in the East Midlands of England, specialising in social and economic regeneration and emergency planning, and has chaired the Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales, an independent Welsh Government sponsored body reviewing electoral arrangements within Wales, ensuring an effective and convenient local government.

The chair leads the committee in monitoring the health, safety and wellbeing of the Coal Authority’s work.
