Beth Cadman OBE

Biography

Beth Cadman is Deputy Head of Mission for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in South Sudan. Beth has been based at the British Embassy in Juba since November 2023.

Beth joined the Department for International Development (DFID) in 2015, holding a variety of leadership positions including, prior to her posting to South Sudan, FCDO Development Director Ghana, Head of Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) in Pakistan, Deputy Head of DFID Jordan and Afghanistan and crisis roles in Lebanon and Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the Caribbean.

Prior to joining DFID, Beth enjoyed a varied career working across the British Government, leading policy and programmes across defence and cross Whitehall roles in the Stabilisation Unit.

Deputy Head of Mission to Juba, South Sudan

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically an important advisor to the Ambassador. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
