Biography

Ben joined the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in 2009. He was appointed Deputy British High Commissioner to Cyprus in September 2020, following temporary deployments as Deputy Ambassador to Tunisia and Morocco. Ben has previously been posted to Peru, where he led the Economic & Sustainable Development Team.

In London Ben has worked on National Security, Middle East & North Africa, Consular and South Asia & Afghanistan, as well as in the Home Office.

Prior to joining the FCDO Ben worked in local government, in non-governmental organisations on youth engagement & participation, and as a freelance trainer.

British Deputy High Commissioner, Cyprus

The Deputy High Commissioner or Deputy Ambassador is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the High Commissioner or Ambassador. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas High Commission or Embassy. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador, as Chargé d’Affaires.
