Andy Westwood

Biography
Andy Westwood is the Policy Director for the Productivity Institute and Professor of Public Policy, Government and Business at the University of Manchester.
As an expert in further and higher education and regional economic development he has advised the UK Government, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, International Monetary Fund and the House of Lords select committees.
Board member
The board members play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of Skills England and ensuring it delivers on its vision. As part of the Board, members provide independent insight, challenge, and support to the executive team. Working collectively with the Chair and fellow board members, they are responsible for:
- contributing to the development and oversight of Skills England’s strategic objectives
- providing expert advice and constructive challenge to ensure effective decision-making
- supporting good governance, risk management, and accountability across the organisation
- acting as ambassadors for Skills England, promoting its role and impact across the skills system
Board members are expected to dedicate approximately 20 days per year to the role, including attendance at Board meetings and engagement with stakeholders.
