Andrew Wells

Biography

Andrew works as a non-executive and consultant. He is board member of Moat Homes Limited, a housing association providing affordable rented housing and low cost home ownership in the South East of England and London.

He was Chair of Redbridge Homes, responsible for managing Redbridge Borough Council’s council housing, from 2011 to 2012. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing’s Influence Board. He has also advised the Olympic Park Legacy Company as a consultant on a number of issues concerned with the future of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.

Andrew’s executive career was in the civil service. He worked in the departments of the Environment, Transport, and Communities and Local Government (CLG) as well as in the Cabinet Office and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. He had experience of a wide range of areas of government policy, including environmental issues, housing, planning, local government and the water industry. He was Director of New Homes and Sustainable Development in CLG from 2003 to 2009 and Director of Planning from 2009 to 2011.

Finally, he worked on the coalition government’s growth policies in his last months before leaving government in 2011.
