Dr Andrew Pocock CMG

Biography

Dr Andrew Pocock was Her Majesty’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, and Permanent Representative to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) from December 2012 to July 2015.

Dr Pocock joined the FCO in 1981, and has served in a range of Diplomatic Service appointments including Washington and Canberra, as Africa Director in London. He has been Head of Mission in 2 African posts, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, and High Commissioner in Ottawa since January 2011.

On his appointment as British High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Pocock said “Nigeria was my first posting in the 1980s, and I very much look forward to returning there, and contributing to the broad and important bilateral relationship between our two countries”.

He is married to Julie Pocock.
