Andrew Key

Biography

Andrew Key was appointed Director of Government Skills and Curriculum Unit in February 2024.

Before this he was Chief Executive of the Judicial Office, supporting the Lady Chief Justice and Senior President of Tribunals in their leadership of the judiciary and relations with government, parliament and the public. 

He has spent much of his career in the Foreign Office, including as Deputy Head of Mission in Beijing, Assistant Director for Human Resources and Ambassador to Macedonia. 

The Director of the Government Skills and Curriculum Unit leads work to ensure the civil service has the skills needed to deliver the government’s priorities, now and for the future. Areas of responsibility include provision of learning across the civil service, leadership development and accelerated development schemes through the Leadership College for Government, oversight of the College for National Security, and development and delivery of the civil service Fast Stream.
