Andrew John Pearce OBE

Biography

Andrew Pearce OBE was appointed Governor of Montserrat in January 2018.

Andy joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office after a period engaged in scientific research. He has had overseas postings in Bangkok, Bucharest, Pretoria, Tel Aviv and, most recently, as Charge d’Affaires (Acting Ambassador) in Vilnius, Lithuania before coming to Montserrat.

Home postings have involved work on FCO estate security matters, arms control and bilateral issues in southern Europe, including Gibraltar. He has been involved in the UK Government response to several natural and man-made crises.

Andy grew up in rural Norfolk in eastern England. He studied Chemistry at Oxford and did a year’s research into new battery technologies before joining the Diplomatic Service. He speaks fluent Thai and loves hiking, climbing and the wild. He is married to Pornpun and they have two children, a son and a daughter (and two much loved family cats who have accompanied them round the world).
