Andre Koelln

Biography

Andre is the Humanitarian and Development Director for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in South Sudan, overseeing the delivery of the UK’s multilateral and bilateral aid programme. Previously, he was the Deputy Head of the FCDO’s Economic Growth Department, leading the development of a new FCDO approach to Economic Development; Deputy Country Director for the UK Department for International Development (DFID) in Ghana and Lebanon, and worked in various roles on the Syria crisis, including as Conflict Advisor.

Prior to DFID he worked as a Business Analyst, Change and Programme Manager for the UK Parliament; as researcher for Peace Direct and the Heidelberg Institute for International Conflict Research, analysing conflict trends.

Andre holds a Master degree in Comparative Politics (Conflict Studies) from the London School of Economic and Political Science, winning the Bill Letwin Price for his research on spoilers in peace processes, and also studied Political Science, History and International Law at the University of Augsburg in Germany.
