Amy Holmes

Biography

Amy Holmes was appointed as Public Guardian and Chief Executive for the Office of the Public Guardian in September 2022.

Amy came from the Cabinet Office where she was the Domestic Affairs Director in the Economic and Domestic Secretariat. Prior to that Amy was in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs where she held a number of senior roles including the Director for Strategy and Change, and the EU and International Trade Director.

Public Guardian

The Public Guardian and Accounting Officer is responsible to the Lord Chancellor and the Secretary of State for Justice for the operation of the OPG, including the way it spends public money and manages its assets.

The Public Guardian is appointed by the Lord Chancellor under Section 57 of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and their responsibilities extend throughout England and Wales.
