Amias Moores

Biography

Amias Moores became the Deputy High Commissioner to the Republic of Botswana in January 2021. Prior to this, he served in the British Embassy in Juba, South Sudan.

Amias is a career diplomat with extensive experience across the full spectrum of diplomatic activity, including: International security, conflict resolution, crisis leadership, bilateral and multilateral relations (UN, EU, Council of Europe, OSCE, NATO), good governance, human rights, trade & prosperity, corporate leadership, and consular. He has gained this experience in both policy and operational roles in London and in overseas postings to Switzerland, UAE, St Helena, Nigeria, Armenia and South Sudan.

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister.Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
