Dr Allan Little

Biography
Allan Little was appointed as a member of the Regulatory Policy Committee in April 2025.
Allan worked for 18 years in the Government Economic Service, specialising in policy appraisal and evaluation, followed by setting up Mission Economics, a consultancy focused on social value, economic research, and digital technology.
Allan’s experience includes:
- head of economic appraisal at the Department for Education
- head of the carbon centre of excellence at the Department for Transport
- principal economist at One North East, regional development agency
- economic adviser at the Department for Work and Pensions
Member, Regulatory Policy Committee
Regulatory Policy Committee members are responsible for:
- scrutinising the quality of the evidence and analysis supporting the case for why government regulation is necessary under the Better Regulation Framework
- providing independent expert advice on whether the impact assessments, options assessments and post-implementation reviews for regulations produced by government departments are fit for purpose
