Alastair Bridges

Biography

Alastair became the Defra Finance Director in January 2014. (From 1 October 2015 a new board-level role of Chief Finance Officer was created so the Finance Director is no longer a member of the Defra Board.)

He joined HM Passport Office in 2009 as Finance and Corporate Services Director. In this role he led teams covering finance, IT operations, risk, security, estates, workforce planning, health and safety, knowledge management and other corporate services. Previously, Alastair worked in the Crime and Policing Group of the Home Office, on young people and drugs issues and then as group Finance Director. He previously worked in the Treasury and completed a two year secondment with KPMG. He is qualified with CIPFA as an accountant.

Alastair is also Honorary Treasurer of a mid-sized national charity.
