The Government Skills and Curriculum Unit (GSCU) was created in September 2020 and is part of the Government People Group within the Cabinet Office.


The Government Skills and Curriculum Unit (GSCU) ensures the Civil Service invests in the skills needed now and in the future by building a culture of continuous learning and offering targeted training. Our accessible, easy-to-navigate curriculum supports every civil servant to nurture and hone their skills by taking ownership of their own development.

Through a standardised skills taxonomy, new digital skills portal and robust evaluation framework we take a data-driven approach to ensure that training is having a positive impact, resulting in better policy making and better public services for the country.
