About us
The Defence Nuclear Safety Expert Committee (DNSEC) is a public body classified as an Expert Committee. Its purpose is to be a key source of independent advice to the Ministry of Defence. It bases its advice on its scrutiny of the available evidence of safety arrangements across the Defence Nuclear Enterprise.
Who we are
Members of the DNSEC come from a diverse range of backgrounds in both the public and private sectors. The committee comprises a chairperson and four members, with the ability to use other independent expertise where further specialist input is required for items in its annual programme of work. It is supported by a small secretariat from within the Ministry of Defence.
