The UK’s new and improved visa application centre in Jakarta has officially opened its doors today.

The new centre in Jakarta is bigger with greater capacity to reduce waiting times for customers and make the start of the journey to the UK more comfortable.

New services include a passport pass-back service which enables customers to retain their passport whilst their visa is being processed.

Our successful 3-5 day priority visa service, open to those going to the UK on business or to work or study, will continue and we have extended access to include qualifying customers going to the UK as tourists.

The new visa application centre and premium services support the strong and continued growth in the number of UK visas issued to Indonesian nationals. In 2013, we issued almost 39,000 visas to Indonesian customers, 12% more than the previous year. The growth is largely from those going to the UK as tourists and business visitors. Visas issued to those going for long-term study also increased by 27%.

The new visa application centre also marks the beginning of a renewed contract between the UK government and VFS Global who operates the centre on behalf of UK Visas & Immigration.

British Chargé d’affaires Rebecca Razavi said:

The UK is open for business and the new visa application centre and new contract enables usto maintain a world class, competitive visa system and offer improved services and facilities to the ever increasing number of Indonesians who are choosing the UK as a destination for travel, business and study. We look forward to welcoming you to Britain.

Notes to Editors:

  • In 2013, 95% of Indonesians who applied for a UK visa got one and it took under 9 working days, on average, for a non-settlement visa to be processed.

  • The new visa application centre is at shared premises with the Australians and New Zealand visa service and is located at:

2nd Floor, Kuningan City Mall, Jl. Prof. Dr. Satrio Kav.18, Jakarta 12940
